Waves
Everything in the universe follows a rhythm: the change of day and night, the seasons, ebb and flow. In the exhibition Waves the artist Sabine Walter shows pictures of differently powerful waves - colourful or restrained.
What all the works have in common is their origin in photography. However, what began as a photographic image was increasingly alienated in the artistic process. Photography no longer serves as an image, but as the source material for a new pictorial reality.
Colour, structure and dynamics detach themselves from the concrete motif and open up a space between figuration and abstraction. What remains is an impression of movement, of explosive energy and the roar of the surf. The wave thus becomes a carrier of moods and symbolises change, power and the constant flow of life.
